The Bondi Icebergs swim on Sundays between May and September.
Prospective swimming members must be proposed by a current, long service swimming member, and seconded by another current, long service swimming member.
- Swimmers must compete three Sunday’s out of four for a period of five years.
- Icebergs swimming season is from May until September
- If a swimming member fails to swim on at least 3 Sundays they must provide a written letter of explanation before the end of the relevant month. This is known as the Historic Rule 15B
Historic Rule 15B
If a swimming member fails to provide a written explanation as required, the Swimming committee may send the member a letter or email (which may be referred to as a 15B letter) requesting the member to contact the Race Recorder to explain why they failed to meet the swimming requirement.
If a member does not comply with the 15B letter the Swim Committee may suspend the member from all Club swimming events and request the member be transferred to Social Membership of the Club. Or they may suspend the member from all Club swimming events and forward to the Board recommending the member be removed from the Club’s Register of Members for a period of up to 12 months.
How to Join
New swimmers Induction days are in April each year.
All new swimmers MUST attend one of our 1.5 hour induction sessions to be eligible to join our exclusive Bondi Icebergs Winter Swimming Club.
